On the road alone.

I got my hair curled and made all ‘perty’.

I got my nails colored.

I packed my bag.

Charged my camera.

And I’m ready to rock St. Petersburg, Russia.

… ok, maybe I won’t really rock it. But, I’m still goin’ there in attempt to rock it. I’m visiting my sis there. She’s been there for over four years and I haven’t been there yet. What the heck? Why?!

I guess,

kids

are to blame, but in a good way, really. I just didn’t want to make the trip with the kids to a snowy land. I wanted to wait for the moment when I can venture out there alone and spend some quality time with my sis and see “Peeter” (as people in St. Petersburg call it, I think) with no worries about anyone else.

So, I am traveling solo. Oh, and it’s such a joy! Although I already miss my family, my peaceful trip started the minute I stepped into the taxi going to the airport. Sure, security checks and all are some hassle, and it might feel odd to call that process peaceful. But,

try it with two kids and

many bags to check

and fly long flights across oceans.

Then try it again and again.

And then try doing it alone with just one bag or none to check, and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

I’m flying Check Airways for the first time and so far I approve of it. First of all, the tickets were pretty reasonable, which is always great. The service from the flight-attendants was very nice too. The pilot did a good job even though it was a bit windy on the way.

Right now I’m sitting at a Pause Cafe in Prague Airport. I have to wait another hour here and that feels nice. Everyone says great things about Prague and I wish I had more time to go into the city and check it out, but I’m looking out right now and I’m not liking the weather. It’s rainy and snowy. So, it’s nice to be sitting in a warm place with a cappuccino and my lap-top on my lap.

The Prague Airport is pretty nice. It’s not too big, clean and well organized. People seem very nice too and they speak English pretty well. They have everything that a big airport does – duty free shopping of big brand names, magazine kiosks, cafes, and I also noticed a good sized children’s play area. This is something of a new trend, and something that sparkles like diamonds in parents’ eyes. Also, there is a free wi-fi connection throughout the airport, which is what I’m using right now. In this day and age, this is a must for any place of business.

So, I’m gonna get back to my activity of sipping cappuccino peacefully while observing the planes and how they are fueled, and maybe flip through Wallpaper magazine.

Wish me a safe trip.
