Destination – St. Petersburg, Russia.
Waiting in Prague.
Enjoying the heck out of reading magazines without any kidlets crawling all over me. My seat was next to a couple who kept sneezing and coughing and complaining about their colds. I soon noticed there were some empty rows and moved to one. Score!
Before I knew it (two hours of peaceful reading), we were landing on the snowy St. Petersburg.
This was right outside of the airport. No reason for it, really.
During the car ride I took some pictures through the car window- Here is a cool bridge. It felt like we were driving inside a skeleton of a long fish.
The Narva Triumphal Gate, which reminded me of Paris. It turned out that that was exactly the purpose of this gate. It has a special connection to the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel in Paris. The one in Paris was built in honor of Napoleon, and the one here in St. Petersburg was built to honor the Russian victory over Napoleon.
Isaac’s Cathedral – the largest Russian Orthodox Cathedral here in St. Petersburg.
And finally our hotel room on the Nevskiy Prospect – an area in the center of St. Petersburg.
We found a restaurant called Eurasia nearby that served sushi and some other Asian cuisine. I don’t know why we didn’t go to some Russian place. Don’t ask. We were hungry and we chose the one that looked crowded and fun. Then we went to the hotel to rest.
So, there. My first day here.
I should hit the rack now so I can have some energy for tomorrow!

Have a nice stay in Russia, Tavus. I hope I will get there one day too.
And maybe when you will be back in Brussels we could meet with kids?
Hey Joanna ~ what a surprise to hear you here. Thank you for commenting! I had a great time in St. Petersburg even if it was kinda short. The weather here in Bru seems so nice these days, it’s lovely to go out to the park. We should meet at the park one day with the kids!
Looks like a cool city! You deserved a break even tho it was really short. Wish I could have been there to babysit.
Yeah you would’ve enjoyed babysiting of course! The city was really great, and even greater was seeing some family there! I wish I didn’t need visa to go there; I would’ve gone a lot.
