Tweedle and Doodle it is!

I’ve been avoiding anything blogging lately. The questions of “why the heck am I doing this?” haunted me again. Also, I have actually been busy. Easter was followed by a double birthday of the kidlets, visits from family members, and a beginning of an online course I started a while ago. During my silent period in the blog world, I did a lot of thinking and decided that I should continue blogging but change my approach and content a little. So far my blogging content and approach has been . . .

it has beeeeeen . . .

. . .

uhm . . .

wow!   and  die Scheize!

ok, let’s get to what I am trying to say. From now on, I will post photos and some form of a creative writing. After all, that is more appropriate to the title of this blog. My tweedle will be not singing (as the word suggests) but writing something anyone can sing to. ahem. My doodle will not be drawing but posting a picture. Sometimes, I may doddle something and post it too since I do like to draw time permitting.

Creative writing has always been a part of me as far as I remember, really. I can often be really sensitive, and this doesn’t mean soft-hearted or whatever, but rather that I really take in a lot of details from my surroundings. Specific colors, facial expressions, music or tone of voice can bring a lot of changes to my present mood or motivations. This can be an awesome thing because it would make me a good artist, however when I don’t have the time to be artistic, I’m at the mercy of it. With this blog I want to let all that I take in out in the most creative way I can. Perhaps that was the original purpose of Tweedle and Doodle.

Having said all of this stuff, let me post some pictures. I don’t really understand my taste in writing yet (it’s complicated, ok), but I am starting to understand my taste in photography.

(please note that all of these photos are what they call SOOC-straight out of the camera. I am not a pro so many of these are dark or too bright. I could have changed them in the computer to make them look nicer, but I like to stay true to my photo taking skills and to the true light and color that camera captures).

I like a picture that says or describes something. I took this picture while my son was playing with cars. He always organizes them in a certain way which tells me about his mood or how his brain might work. A picture like this can bring a lot of memories and feelings instantly, which is something I enjoy about photography.

Speaking of my son, this is him enjoying one of his favorite things to do – dancing. I really love taking pictures of kids on the move (and dislike telling them to sit and say cheese). It allows me to capture movement (like those blurry spots of the foot and hands), as if the picture is moving and 3D.

Here is another movement shot. I am somewhat obsessed with taking a picture of someone jumping. This is my sister jumping next to the Arc du Triomphe in Paris. Instead of a picture of her smiling with the Arc behind her, I much rather make her jump and capture her flying against the walls of the Arc.

Here is more Paris for you. Imagine this picture overblown onto a canvas and hung in your living room or bedroom. You’ll be always feeling like you are under the Eiffel Tower (in the evening when it is most beautiful) in Paris. Imagining an image overblown and hung in a house is another thing I love to think of when I take some pictures.

I want to finish this gallery with this precious picture of my precious daughter. She is beautiful when she smiles, but she is unforgettable when she expresses a certain joyful feeling. That’s why I love this picture. I only wish that it was a mommy made juice of some kind instead of that Activia drink in her hand. (perhaps I should make mommy-made juice first, though). On the other hand, I should send this to Activia company and tell them they can use it as an add if they help contributing to her future college fund.

:-) – mommy is always thinking.

So, there is my photography interests explained with photos and words.

Do you have a favorite here?

I will appreciate it a lot if you let me know by commenting :)

Danke!  (I don’t know what’s up with me and dutch today)

A Bowl full of Chocolate

I’m not much of a Chocolate person. And I’m really not an Easter person. But, Easter is a very good reason to eat chocolate (along with ‘a bad day’). And I Do live in Belgium after all.

So, Easter and Chocolate come together in my dining room table this season.

My favorites are truffles:

and little bits of dark chocolate, like this one:

I thought it was one of those coffee beans dipped in chocolate, which I don’t really love but thought I might need it because I’ve been extremely sleepy last few days. So, I got home and tried one and was expecting my teeth to crunch it, but instead, it just dipped into a soft dark chocolate with some coffee flavor. Ah, it was go-od!

Sorry that you can’t have them.

:-(

But, Happy Easter anyways!

Lady in Red

We have a celebrity in the kitchen today.

Paparazzi: Oh you look lovely. Beautiful as ever. Tell us, please, what are you wearing this evening?

A: Only the best! Why don’t you guess?

P: Oh, i don’t know. Is it American, Italian…?

A: I only wear Italian, of course!

P: Oh, oh, oh! I think I know it. I think I know it. Don’t tell me. uhmm. Is it Spaghetti Bolognese?

A: Right on the money, honey.

P: Oh, perfect patterns! Perfect color! belissimo!

A: I know. Ciao.

Nailpolish

hmmm, what have i been doing lately?

I have been doing everything but blogging, I’d say. I’ve been taking tons of pictures and posting them on flickr.

I’ve been reading and watching style and fashion blogs instead of my usual cooking and home decor blogs. And I’ve been watching a lot of movies.

And then, I did one unusual thing.

My little J did it too. I first didn’t want to do this jumping thing but since my boy wanted it, I pretended to accompany him.

My hubby and the baby girl watched down below and waited patiently for my flip.

The flip that never came.

Hey, no one should expect a woman who spent close to two years of past four years taking extreme care of her body and the little ones growing inside, and the other two years living an anti-risk life to make sure the babies grow up without any harm, to do a flip the first time she tries this jumpy thing (what’s the name, anyways?).

I went on, just to jump my stress away. And that’s just what I did! Now, I would like a medal of honor please, thank you.

I also did some home decor. I did this vase and fake branch arrangement.

Notice the yellow feathers?! Traditional green branches needed these alien yellow feathers. And it needed some color power too. Speaking of which,

meet my new friend, the orange nail polish.

Oh, how I love this color. All those times I have to change a messy diaper aren’t that bad anymore, because these babies stare right into my soul and magically brighten the dark room in there. In fact, I do so much with pleasure now. For example, cleaning,

holding a glass,

pretending I know what this is,

and pretending to bite my nails.

(excuse my T&C -tongue and cheek -).

Is the purpose of fashion supposed to be this? That, it brings light into the not so bright days and moments, and makes the bright moments sparkling bright?

Well, if that’s the case. I get it. I get fashion.

And thus, (!)

I recommend everyone to go out and get bright nail polish. That’s right. Go and get it.

Orange is what I would suggest, naturally.
